Darrell Smith

Respected throughout the Northwest for his expertise in transportation projects, Darrell Smith’s contributions as Director of Civil Engineering are plainly evident on a daily basis at LDC. Known for delivering transit, transportation programs, utility programs, parks, and green infrastructure projects, Darrell joined LDC in 2018 as an already trusted advisor to cities, counties, ports and transit agencies. One particular area of focus is his knowledge in FHWA and FTA federally funded projects and associated requirements due to his ability to help complete complex transportation improvements on-time and within budget.

Throughout his career, Darrell has demonstrated a commitment to excellence, whatever the endeavor. Among the transportation improvement projects to which he’s contributed are highways, arterial streets, roundabouts, multi-use trails, transit centers, park and rides, bus rapid transit (BRT) lines and ADA improvements. He’s further demonstrated leadership in the arena, serving as ASCE Kitsap Branch president and active APWA transportation committee member.

Darrell is dedicated to mentoring team members of all levels by creating a culture of growth and collaboration. Anyone who meets Darrell can see that he finds joy in his work and that he cultivates that same passion with his team. His leadership inspires those around him to strive to be part of something significant. He exhibits a positive spirit and focus on excellence as he helps grow the LDC Civil Group.
