Architect/Project Manager

The Architect Project Manager is responsible for managing and directing both architectural and telecom projects to ensure quality and timeliness for the projects assigned to them. The Architect Project Manager is responsible for designing, managing and coordinating assigned architectural, telecom and structural projects from conceptual design through construction administration. This process includes understanding the wireless telecom industry including: 1) technical aspects of wireless telecom 2) application of wireless telecom in the built environment 3) quick visualization and problem solving for these applications and 4) clearly and effectively communicating design solutions in drawings. The Architect Project Manager is responsible for Quality Control/Quality Assurance and management coordination of all architectural and structural projects involved in wireless telecom including: 1) structural 2) electrical 3) mechanical 4) geotechnical 5) civil 6) acoustical and 7) radio frequency engineering. This position works in conjunction with the Director of Telecom and has direct involvement with budgeting, client relations, establishing deadlines, and assisting in directing the work of technical staff.

  • Direct project design including: applicable building codes and land use codes, current with alternative materials, creative designs for clients, identify needs of other disciplines such as structural, HVAC, electrical and plumbing, review projects for quality control/quality assurance prior to issuance to client, present projects to clients and at public hearings, provide design concept for client review and approval, provide technical support to design staff in the implementation of the approved design concept.
  • Gather wireless telecom existing field condition information via hand sketches, measurements (GPS, tape, range finder laser, micrometer, wheel) and photos, including photosim candidate photos.
  • Sketch on your feet in front of clients offering viable design solutions.
  • Design schematics with a focus on space programming, site planning, elevations, sections, 3D renderings by hand/electronic models and architectural details of wireless telecom and other commercial projects.
  • Create, with other team members, construction drawings of wireless telecom standardized and custom design projects, including pre-manufactured modular building and equipment support systems associated with telecom facilities.
  • Converse effectively and confidently with clients, co-workers, consultants.
  • Perform redline changes and revisions.
  • Participate in the architectural design process, develop alternative solutions and presentation graphics used to communicate concepts to the client or for agency approval.
  • Develop project specifications from master specifications.
  • Participate in the review of product or shop drawing submittals during the construction phase.
  • Engage in finish reprographic scanning, copies, printing, and transmittals of original working drawings of current projects.
  • Innovate new prototypes designed for the telecom industry.
  • Engage in design development drawings and collaborate with the production staff for completion of technical details needed for construction drawings.
  • Establish telecom and architectural budgets on assigned projects for the Director’s approval, and actively monitor and report budget compliance.
  • Establish and manage project scheduling, and coordination of design and technical staff, with the Director’s approval.
  • Prepare purchase order requests (POR’s) for Director and client approval.
  • Overall project and client management.
  • Marketing of new and existing clients.

Requirements

  • Architectural License in Washington State, multiple States preferred
  • 10 years’ minimum architectural design experience, 5 years’ minimum architectural project management experience
  • Experience in representing projects in a public forum and negotiating with jurisdictions
  • Construction field experience
  • Possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • High-level proficiency in computer software program related activities
  • Have the ability to handle a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with and direct architectural and structural team members on all levels
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills in working with technical groups
