The E.I.T. Structural I works as part of a team and performs tasks assigned by Project Engineers and Project Managers. Responsibilities include planning, design, review and coordination for complex engineering tasks to support successful project completion. The E.I.T. Structural I will apply engineering skills and abilities to perform standard computation and analysis in support of design options. In addition, they prepare reports and drawings. They also collect and analyze data from reports, maps, drawings, test results and other topographic and geological documents to plan and design the project or portions of a project.

What You Get to Do

  • Prepare reports, plans, specifications, schedules and designs in accordance with current applicable codes and laws (detention vaults, new commercial structures, additions and modifications ot existing structures, soil retention structures, pedestrian bridges)
  • Visit job sites to monitor job progress and ensure compliance with plans and specifications
  • Use computer assisted tools to enhance efficiency
  • Structural mapping to verify existing site conditions
  • Coordinate, as required, with Project Managers and Project Engineers
  • Work with and review sub-consultant's work product
  • File review for existing documents at jurisdictions and agencies
  • Determine appropriate design criteria for new projects


  • Graduate of a 4-year ABET-accredited College or University with a Bachelor's Degree in an applicable discipline
  • 0 -2 years of civil engineering experience
  • E.I.T. certificate required
  • Experience with wood, concrete, steel and FRP designs
  • Possess a basic understanding of civil engineering plan set, site construction and structural elements
  • Have the ability to think creatively
  • Represent LDC in a responsible and professional manner
  • High-level of proficiency in computer software programs; including all Microsoft Office programs, RISA, and AutoCAD
  • Possess excellent rapport with management and co-workers, positive can-do attitude, excellent customer service, and people skills
  • Works independently and as part of a team
  • Have the ability to handle a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, hardworking, highly ethical, and dependable
  • Detail-oriented, organized, multi-tasking abilities and good follow-through skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Excellent stress management and time management skills
  • Ability to work discretely with sensitive and confidential information
