The Survey Crew Chief I will assist the Survey Crew Chief II with various tasks, including field data collection, boundary and easement surveys, topographic mapping, plat and condo document preparation, recorded document preparation, and construction staking. The Survey Crew Chief I should have a general understanding of surveying techniques.
Requirements
- Basic surveying knowledge
- Intermediate math skills, which include trigonometry and geometry
- Ability to read and comprehend simple survey measurements
- Understanding of basic sources of measurement errors
- Read and understand plans and specifications
- Know, understand and demonstrate safe working/operating methods of assigned tools and equipment
- Work with the Survey Crew Chief II to meet the goals of the project in a safe and efficient manner
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work outdoors with long hours and sometimes difficult physical demands
- Required to remain standing for a minimum of eight (8) hours per day and walk long distances
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and overtime as needed
- A minimum of 2 years’ survey experience as rodman, instrument man, chainman or equivalent role
- Must be experienced in controlling the function of surveying instruments and calculators
- Experience with boundary, topographic, ALTA, as-built surveys and construction staking
- Working towards LSIT certification preferred
- Valid Washington State driver’s license including a good driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements
