Technical Writer I

The Technical Writer I position is responsible for assisting in creating technical documents to support LDC, Inc. This includes technical writing, assisting in document layout and preparing proposals. The Technical Writer I consults with engineering, planning, and technical staff and assists in writing and checking engineering specifications. The Technical Writer I will assist in writing technical documents, such as engineering standards and specifications, purchase requirements and related technical publications.

What You Get to Do

  • Prepare technical reports and memorandums
  • Prepare written proposals and scopes of work
  • Assists with preparation of engineering technical specifications
  • Work with input from engineering and planning departments to mine information and create printed and electronic technical documentation
  • Manage multiple projects/assignments simultaneously
  • Edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other contributors
  • Track project assignment schedules and budgets
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes
  • Assist with web site content

Requirements

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Proficiency with Adobe applications (Acrobat, Photoshop, Premier)
  • Experience publishing content to websites
  • Familiarity with multiple mobile and desktop platforms
  • Excellent research and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast environment within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; communicate and collaborate with others to meet project requirements
  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts
  • Able to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Information management skills
  • Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking
  • Associate’s degree in English, Engineering, Journalism, Technology or related field preferred
  • 2 years technical writing experience in an engineering environment or combination of education and experience
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License
