Technical Writer II

The Technical Writer II position is responsible for the creation of technical documents to support LDC, Inc., including technical writing, assisting in document layout, preparing proposals, consulting with engineering, planning and technical staff in writing and checking engineering specifications. The Technical Writer II is responsible for writing technical documents such as engineering standards and specifications, purchase requirements and related technical publications.

  • Prepare technical reports and memorandums
  • Prepare written proposals and scopes of work
  • Prepare engineering technical specifications
  • Work with input from engineering and planning departments to mine information and create printed and electronic technical documentation
  • Meet proposal deadlines
  • Explain complex information in a clear and concise manner
  • Manage multiple projects/assignments simultaneously
  • Edit, standardize or make changes to material prepared by other contributors
  • Track project assignment schedules and budgets
  • Create and utilize templates
  • Prepare meeting agendas and minutes
  • Prepare web site content


  • Advanced writing skills
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office Suite Experience editing documents to ensure grammatical correctness and conduct research to ensure use of proper technical terminology
  • Proficiency with Adobe applications (Acrobat, Photoshop, Premier)
  • Experience publishing content to websites
  • Experience with multiple mobile and desktop platforms
  • Excellent research and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to translate highly technical information into easily understandable information for clients
  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts
  • Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while consistently producing documents of exceptional quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; communicate and collaborate with others to meet project requirements
  • Strong graphic skills
  • Excellent information management skills
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Engineering, Journalism, Technology or related field preferred
  • 5 years technical writing experience in an engineering environment or combination of education and experience
  • Background in engineering a big plus
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License
