After successfully assisting the city with their Housing Action Plan (HAP), the City of Sumner hired LDC to prepare several sets of code amendments to implement their HAP. Projects include development of updated Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) regulations, creating a new unit lot subdivision code, and updating SEPA exemptions. Work includes scoping code amendments, preparing background materials, preparing draft and final language, presenting to the Planning Commission and City Council, and assisting the city with engagement throughout the process.

Going Above the Standard

One of the projects to implement the HAP was assisting the city with the development of updated ADU regulations. We worked closely with the city to develop code options that open opportunities for new ADUs and respects the character of existing neighborhoods.
